You know the saying: history tends to repeat itself. Well, the same goes with fashion. If anything, we have seen revamped designs and the resurgence of trends, from era to era. Let’s just hope that huge scrunchies and shoulder pads stay in the past! We have mentioned it before, our favorite era to get giddy over are the 90’s brands and trends that are resurfacing and thankfully, we are not the only ones.
We teamed up with the duo behind North Trooper
, Chris Gualano and Tawny Atwood, who are a force to be reckoned with. The soon-to-be wedded couple are a packaged deal—Gualano being the photographer and Atwood, the stylist. Both are involved in the creative aspect of their shoots, making them consistently spot on. Makeup artist Leticia Avrith focused on a fresh-face look while model and Burton Girls
brand ambassador, Melrose Boyer, served killer looks for a shoot that pays tribute to the brands that are making a big comeback. The brand selected to be highlighted this time is Tommy Hilfiger
, who’s A/W 2016 ready-to-wear reminds us of camping and being carefree.
We’re all about female empowerment and badass gals, so it’s no wonder why we immediately got a girl crush on model, Melrose. Here, we caught up with her on her past with snowboarding, police technology and breaking gender binaries.
Olinda Asymmetric Stripe Snow White Navy Blazer: Tommy Hilfiger; $106, www.johnlewis.com
FOAM: How long have you been a brand ambassador for Burton Girls?
Melrose Boyer: I became an ambassador last year! It was such an incredible experience and I am looking forward to representing Burton once again!
F: When did you first start snowboarding?
MB: I started at the age of 4-years-old at a small ski hill named Mont-Rigaud and I never stopped chasing Winter since then. I basically have been on a snowboard my whole life!
Pacer Legging: Tommy Hilfiger; $99.50, usa.tommy.com
F: What about modeling?
MB: I actually just celebrated 5 years with my agency! It’s crazy to think I started back when I was only 15.
F: Aside from snowboarding and modeling, what are some of your other favorite pastimes?
MB: Growing up in a small horse town, I started horseback riding really young. Ever since then, I have always had horses and competed in show jumping for many years.
Dark Wash Jegging Fit Jean: Tommy Hilfiger; $129.50, usa.tommy.com
F: What is your ultimate career goal?
MB: I always wanted to be a police officer. I am currently studying Police Technology in Montreal and looking forward to starting my career soon!
F: What message do you wish to say to other females who push gender binaries?
MB: I believed girls need to be told that they can be whatever they want to be. There shouldn’t be a division between women and men. If you believe in something you must push for it no matter what people think.
Colorblock Down Jacket: Tommy Hilfiger; $225.00, usa.tommy.com
F: What is your secret to your fresh-face look?
MB: I actually don’t do anything; I think that’s the secret! I use hot water in the morning and at night and I just scrub my face with a towel. I gave up on cleansers and went back to basics. As for makeup, a little concealer for those early morning and that’s it!
F: In your own opinion, what does every woman need hanging in their closet?
MB: Whatever makes them feel good! Everyone has a different style and nobody should feel as though they need to have what everyone else has.
Stripe Rollneck Sweater: Tommy Hilfiger; $119.00, usa.tommy.com
F: What was your favorite look from this shoot?
MB: My favorite look was definitely the Tommy sport clothes, with everything I do, it’s important to keep fit! The look is one that is easily wearable at the gym as well as everyday clothing.
