Natalie Off Duty

Natalie Suarez has been modeling since she was fifteen, but it wasn’t until she started showing off her personal style on her blog Natalie Off Duty that she got to prove that she’s more than just a pretty face.

What’s been your favorite part about blogging so far?
I’ve made so many good friends all over the world from blogging. Wherever I travel, whether it’s Seattle for a modeling job or Spain, there’s always someone to contact. I’ve made really good, close friends.

Where do you find most of your clothes?
Some of my favorite stuff is from estate sales. I’ll spend mornings on the weekend just going to a few and picking up some of the craziest designer vintage that you could never find anywhere else.

What’s it like being on both sides of the camera for a change?
I love having creative control. On shoots, when they’re telling me want to wear, I try to figure out what I like. I always learn and then try things at home. I play around with that. They give me tips; I learn different things and try out different styles.

Any cool opportunities you’d like to share?
I became Volcum ambassador. It’s one of my favorite brands. I went to the casting, just as a model, but they knew me through the blog. They were like, “Oh my god, I can’t believe this girl came in!” So, I shot their campaign and eventually grew into representing the brand and working on Volcommunity.com. Next fall, I’ll be designing a few things, which is totally different from anything I’ve ever done.

The question begs to be asked: What do you do off duty?
I love hanging out with my friends, visiting my sister in Philly. Pretty much anything—hanging out in parks, riding my bike. Very off duty things.

I read her blog and conclude that she's just a model and there are way too many of them pretending that "fashion blogging" is a skill and or important. This girl seems nice enough but so are all my friends but Natalie Off Duty is VERY conservative and frankly boring as she has no discernable style of her own. Her looks are generic and I find her tone very presumtuous and annoying. Man, she's just another boring model with very little personality. Just thought I'd share this because it's important that people realize that taking pictures of themselves everyday to show us their outfits is not a skill and particularly boring done by models

I just love when ladies do what they love.

We actually really enjoy seeing how someone involved in the fashion industry dresses on their own time– it may seem boring to some people but we love that her personal style reflects our own sartorial tastes. We agree with Cristina– any lady following her passion is a rad lady in our book!
