"Ten days until I'm at the festival grounds for the 2011 Coachella music festival. Year after year—for eight years now—I show up expecting to know exactly where to go and what back roads to take, when really every year they switch up the map somehow and all I can focus on is remembering to try and not pass out while in line to get my ticket. Waiting to get my wristband(s) scanned, I have to keep track of exactly where all of the frozen lemonade stands are.

I like to think of myself as being pretty organized. I like a solid plan, I like Excel spreadsheets, and I like to travel with those who know how to use a compass. Still, I was seriously shocked by the very detailed packet I received along with my tickets this year. It was nothing like they have ever put together before– I literally received a full-on press kit. I kind of miss the old days when all you had to do was print out your paper ticket and hope that nothing terrible happened.

To say that the press kit they sent hasn’t stressed me out would be a lie. It’s weighed on me almost as much when they decided to make the event three days instead of two. So after all this complaining, you may wonder why I keep doing this to myself. After all, I am an American and have that choice of attending or deciding not to.

The reason? Music. When else is it possible see Radiohead perform right after the Pixies reunite on the main stage? Where else can you lie down under the stars and hear the sounds of Portishead or watch Rage Against the Machine and fear for your life as barricades go up and the ground is literally vibrating.
Oh Coachella, glad we can meet again in ten days...bring it."

Kendra is headed to Coachella for three days of lemonade, sun and serious tuneage. Keep up with her here and on our Facebook and Twitter for street style, recaps and special surprises.
