Hazel Brown

The migration of clothing designers from the sewing room to the Internet isn’t usually much cause for celebration– it’s kind of expected by now. But Los Angeles-based fashion line Hazel Brown knows that even among high-tech conventions, there’s plenty of room for both fun and innovation: A painstakingly crafted (and obscenely cute) puppet show welcomes you to the line’s new online presence. Serene, well-worn animal puppets quietly iron fabrics, knit from a spool of thread, and just hang out around tiny paper-doll ready dresses. The video itself is a cool juxtaposition of skilled handicraft showcased via high-speed Internet evolution (and superb cinematography). And hey, Hazel Brown’s sometimes flowy, sometimes tailored, always beautiful clothes aren’t too bad either.
