NYC Urchin

Annie McBride is your standard lady surfer She buys board wax at local surf shops, hosts benefits for nonprofits that involve surf camps and posts outfit photos from New York Fashion Week that, she thinks, could be mermaid-inspired. But instead of being based on a sunny SoCal beach, McBride runs NYC Urchin—her blog about all things wave-related—from New York. McBride happens to ride at Rockaway Beach in Queens, one of the areas hit hardest by Hurricane Sandy. So now, in between photo tours of darling Montauk summer shares and interviews with women’s surf magazine editors, McBride is rallying her ever-growing troops for the cleanup effort. The vibe is part hipster, part inspiring and fully rad.
