Pattern Behavior: William Okpo, Tracy Reese
Oregon Trail: Nicholas K, Nicole Miller
Pretty Pleats: Rebecca Taylor, BCBG Max Azaria
Leather Or Not: Theyskens Theory, Alexander Wang
Fringe Machine: Herve Leger, Nicole Miller
Every year, after the bloggers have hopped the pond to London and the New York Fashion week buzz softens to a hum, one question remains: How is one supposed to shift through hundreds of runway trends to find the ones that, well, you can actually wear?
No need to fret! We kept tabs on every show this season and through some light debating (and an entire stack of Post-Its), came up with a list of five fall 2012 fashion trends you can translate to your real world wardrobe:
Pattern Behavior
From the opening beats of Tracy Reese's show, we knew one thing to be true: the bolder, the better. Mix bright plaids with '60s wallpaper florals. Ditch the boring tan raincoat, too—ocean blue hues look fresh under a neon trench.
Oregon Trail
We'll admit what really struck us about Nicholas K's show were those turtle shell necklaces (fingers still crossed they aren't real), but it didn't take us long to fall in love with the entire Wild West theme. Get inspired by picking up pieces in dusty beige or colors plucked straight from a desert sunset. Don't forget a big black hat!
Pretty Pleats
The classic girls can always lean on Rebecca Taylor for floral frocks, but this year her maxi dresses were treated with peek-a-boo sheer pleats. Pair with a cozy sweater and heeled boots when the weather turns.
Leather or Not
Some trends are here to stay! Blame it on Sandy if you want, but leather has been stealing hearts for countless seasons. We won't beat a dead horse here, but there are endless ways to wear this rough and tumble material.
Fringe Machine
With Coachella just around the corner, this is one trend we'll adopt a little early. We love how Nicole Miller kept it cool by pairing with silky, colorful pants instead of going the typical denim or lace direction.
We've already been blogging away for the London shows. Keep an eye on what's happening on our Tumblr!
