Last week we found ourselves at a creative lifestyle and fashion trade show called Agenda in Long Beach, California. On our agenda, pardon the pun, was to comb through the booths and bring you the coolest brands that need to be on your radar. Below you’ll find everything from beauty finds to a special body care product that is taking back the word “bitch” and giving it a positive twist. Read on for our top five picks:
Aretha Sack and Janine Lee are two gal pals from San Francisco, CA who started Floss Gloss LTD back in 2011. They met while attending California College of the Arts and were quick to bond over similar interests, one of them being nails. The two formed the nail crew, which they referred to as the “Floss Gloss”. In 2014, the girls moved to Brooklyn, NY and built the Floss Gloss LTD brand and started making waves in the beauty industry. Floss Gloss offered custom curated colors and shades that are both cruelty free and vegan friendly. We have been rocking the color “Perf” which honors it’s name by being the perfect shade of pink. Arguably the crowd favorite at Agenda, Chonies is a brand new kid on the block that launched this past December. Chonies recognizes that women come in all sorts of packages and even has the mantra, “All booties are beautiful”. How can we not go weak in the knees for this new undergarment cool kid? Chonies urges real customers to live and share through social media and we may just need to contribute. IG: @choniesbrand
This is also a newcomer who definitely peaked our interest. BITCHSTIX is a face and body care company who focuses on using 100% certified organic ingredients, natural ingredients and no GMO’s, ever. There is never any animal testing and by using palm oil they help preserve the rainforests. As if those aren’t reasons enough to love them, 100% of their net proceeds of their product is given to support domestic violence and sexual assault prevention programs. This is where the word, “Bitch”comes into play. BITCHSTIX is taking back the negative connotation, they want to make the word a trigger; a reminder to women that, “Bitch” is powerful and will not be a participant in the oppressive and shaming behavior that typically comes with it. Another female duo to not mess with, sisters Kamila and Anita Nawarkiewicz formed FemiStories in 2008. Their clothing is created for active women who appreciate comfort without compromising style. Their brand is colorful and created for women who love sports, fun and travel. So in essence, the perfect fit for the Foamy reader. IG: @femipleasureofficial
